Description

Magic Chopstick Games is a small, independent video game shop. We've been around since 2001, though our roots go all the way back to hand-copying BASIC games out of computing magazines onto the ol' Apple IIe after school. We've been releasing games on and off ever since, and we continue to work on new, exciting titles to this day. We've also grown accustomed to referring to ourselves in the majestic plural; Magic Chopstick Games is really just Tom Darby in disguise. Other than that, there's not a lot more to say; check out our games to learn more!

History

Early history

Our first game, Jardinains!, came about after we had a bizarre dream. We don't remember a single thing about the dream itself, but we do know that we sat bolt upright in bed at 3 AM, turned to our wife (whom we had awakened in the process of sitting bolt upright,) and said in a loud, clear voice:

"It'll have gnomes in it! And you'll be able to bounce them!"

After that, we had no choice but to make an entire videogame wherein said gnomes would exist, and said gnomes would be gleefully bounced by the player for points and personal amusement. Jardinains! went on to top the charts at Download.com, which was a thing back then. All told, it's enjoyed millions of downloads, several articles in actual physical game magazines (which was also a thing back then,) a sequel, and countless gnome-bouncing fans, all angrily shaking their fists at the little beasties.

More Recent History

Since the release of Jardinains! and Jardinains 2!, Magic Chopstick Games has worked on a number of small, experimental games, including (the now defunct) iAye, (the also now defunct) Skizzazz!, and GROW MAKE SEEK TAKE. We released Obliteracy, an ambitious turn-based word game with giant robots, in late 2018. Right now, we're in private testing for our all-new Jardinains! reboot for desktop, mobile, and other systems. We expect to release the all-new Jardinains! in early 2020, so keep an eye on this space!
